We believe in a future in which the web is a preferred environment for numerical computation. To help realize this future, we've built stdlib. stdlib is a standard library, with an emphasis on numerical and scientific computation, written in JavaScript (and C) for execution in browsers and in Node.js.
The library is fully decomposable, being architected in such a way that you can swap out and mix and match APIs and functionality to cater to your exact preferences and use cases.
When you use stdlib, you can be absolutely certain that you are using the most thorough, rigorous, well-written, studied, documented, tested, measured, and high-quality code out there.
To join us in bringing numerical computing to the web, get started by checking us out on GitHub, and please consider financially supporting stdlib. We greatly appreciate your continued support!
allocUnsafe
[![NPM version][npm-image]][npm-url] [![Build Status][test-image]][test-url] [![Coverage Status][coverage-image]][coverage-url]
Allocate a [buffer][@stdlib/buffer/ctor] having a specified number of bytes.
bash
npm install @stdlib/buffer-alloc-unsafe
javascript
var allocUnsafe = require( '@stdlib/buffer-alloc-unsafe' );
#### allocUnsafe( size )
Unsafely allocates a [buffer][@stdlib/buffer/ctor] having a specified number of bytes.
javascript
var buf = allocUnsafe( 10 );
// returns <Buffer>
Buffer
][@stdlib/buffer/ctor] instances is not initialized. Memory contents are unknown and may contain sensitive data.
- When the size
is less than half the pool size (specified on the [Buffer
][@stdlib/buffer/ctor] constructor in modern Node.js environments), memory is allocated from the [Buffer
][@stdlib/buffer/ctor] pool for faster allocation of new [Buffer
][@stdlib/buffer/ctor] instances.
javascript
var allocUnsafe = require( '@stdlib/buffer-alloc-unsafe' );
var buf;
var i;
// Repeatedly unsafely allocate memory and inspect the buffer contents...
for ( i = 0; i < 100; i++ ) {
buf = allocUnsafe( 100 );
console.log( buf.toString() );
}
@stdlib/buffer-ctor
][@stdlib/buffer/ctor]: Buffer.
- [@stdlib/buffer-from-array
][@stdlib/buffer/from-array]: allocate a buffer using an octet array.
- [@stdlib/buffer-from-arraybuffer
][@stdlib/buffer/from-arraybuffer]: allocate a buffer from an ArrayBuffer.
- [@stdlib/buffer-from-buffer
][@stdlib/buffer/from-buffer]: copy buffer data to a new Buffer instance.
- [@stdlib/buffer-from-string
][@stdlib/buffer/from-string]: allocate a buffer containing a provided string.
